Cavalleria rusticana ( pronounced [kavalleˈriːa rustiˈkaːna]; Italian for 'Rustic Chivalry ') is an opera in one act by Pietro Mascagni to an Italian libretto by Giovanni Targioni-Tozzetti and Guido Menasci, adapted from an 1880 short story of the same name and subsequent play by Giovanni Verga.

A story deeply rooted in love, betrayal, and a couple love triangles, Cavalleria Rusticana (English: Rustic Chivalry) follows Turiddu and his discarded lover, Santuzza. Turiddu had returned home from military service to find that his fiancée, Lola, had married another man. In his revenge, he seduced Santuzza to make Lola jealous.
